PURPOSE:To improve the cross-sectional shape of a rolling material and to reduce the edge drops at its width ends by installing a thrust roll chock at the outside of a roll to be shifted in its axial direction. CONSTITUTION:Thrust roll chocks 11, 12 which house thrust bearings 13, 14 respectively, are installed at the end of an upper work roll 1 and at its opposite side end of a lower work roll 2 respectively. By this arrangement, the work rolls 1, 2 are shifted without the interferences of thrust roll chocks 12, 11. The thrusts acting on the upper and lower work rolls 1, 2 during rolling, are surely beared by hydraulic cylinders 15, 16 through the thrust roll chosks 11, 12. Accordingly, the excellent cross-sectional shape of a rolling material is obtained, and the edge drops at its width ends are reduced. |
