PURPOSE:To form a wire rod into an excellent one, capable of generating high-intensity magnetic field, in high yield, by attaching a coating material on a forged wire rod of Nb-Ta alloy containing specific percentage of Ta or Hf, to provide cold drawing to he wire rod with coating material, and incorporating plural said wire rods in a stabilizing material to provide repeatedly heat treatments and cold drawings to them before twisting them. CONSTITUTION:A copper or copper-nickel tube which reduces an AC coupling loss is attached to a Nb-Ti base forged alloy wire rod well drawn and low in hysteresis loss, containing by atom %, 1-15% Ta or 1-10% Hf, and these are provided with cold drawing. Plural number of these wire rods with tubes are incorporated in an aluminum stabilizing material, and these are provided with cold drawing again. These are successively provided with a heat treatment of 300-500 deg.C, at which an annealing effect is expected without causing the segregation of Ta, Hf, and are provided repeatedly with cold drawings for obtaining a high critical current density by the reduction of >=30% reduction rate of area before being provided with heat treatment agains, then these are provided with the final twisting. In this way, these are formed into a superconductive wire rod with less AC loss and capability of generating a high intensity magnetic field, in high yield.
