The electronic component has its casing extending over part of the connection wires to form a collar that limits the depth of insetion of the component into a printed circuit board. The collar has a diameter 1.5 to 3 times the diameter of the wire and its end tapers sharply. The component has a protective plastics dip coating which extends over the collars.
