<p>An insert for an injection moulded boot combines a hollow pillar for reinforcing the heel with a curved plate for reinforcing beneath the arch of the instep. The curved plate is perforated and the surfaces of the pillar are ribbed or grooved to key with the plastic matrix. The insert may be of metal or other relatively rigid material. The boot may be moulded in more than one stage e.g. to produce in complementary materials a calf, an upper and a sole. The hollow in the heel of the insert is used to locate the insert in the mould, may subsequently be filled by a plug prefabricated or case in situ.</p> |
