PURPOSE:To improve wear-resistance of a piston ring by forming a film layer plated with a hard particle dispersion alloy on a sliding surface. CONSTITUTION:A hard particle dispersion alloy plating layer 1 in which 5 to 45vol% of hard particles are uniformly dispersed in iron-phosphorus alloy or nickel-phosphorus alloy plating base is formed on the sliding surface of a piston ring body 2. A part of the hard particles may be displaceable with solid lubricating particles having particle size of 0.5 to 10mu. The capacity of phosphorus is preferably 0.2 to 10%. The particle size of the hard particle is preferably 0.5 to 10mu. If the capacity exceeds 45% or the particle size exceeds 10mu, abrasion of the other agent is increased to lower the strength of a film. |
