PURPOSE:To detect whether a position shift of the upper and the lower glass plates by forming a discriminating pattern on a pair of upper and lower glass plates for constituting a liquid crystal display cell, respectively, and observing visually a state of the superposition. CONSTITUTION:In upper and lower glass plates 1, 2, respectively, a part which usually does not receive an irradiation of a transmitting light or a reflected light, namely, in a part except an effective display range 4, for instance, in a part of 5, a discriminating pattern is formed. It consists of an annular transparent conductive film 6 and a circular transparent conductive film 7, and they are connected to an electrode pattern formed on an optional part of the side end of the glass plates 1, 2 through electric conductor parts 8, 9, respectively, and an electric conduction can be executed. When a position shift exists in the glass plates 1, 2 and a superposed part 10 exists, when a transmitting light is irradiated from the lower part of, for instance, the glass plate 2 in an electric conductive state, the superposed part 10 looks black by an action of a liquid crystal. |
