Internal combustion engine with reduced noise and heat emission

This relates to an internal combustion engine with reduced noise, heat and pollutant emissions. In this, optimisation of the characteristics of an oil-cooled engine calls for heat dissipation by the oil, uniformly distributed on the entire circumference of the cylinder. For this reason a piston bottom part was developed which distributes the internal oil-cooling uniformly on the circumference. The external cooling was improved in that isolated cylinders are provided with a cooling-oil guide annularly recessed on the entire circumference and that the isolated cylinders stand in a common chamber cooled by splash oil. The more uniform this cooling on the entire cylinder circumference, the higher the possible temperature level of the cylinder, which is extremely important for the combustion of vegetable oils in place of petroleum products. At the same time the present design is aimed at improving the power density and running behaviour of the diesel engine so that its disadvantages compared to the spark ignition engine are largely compensated for.
