PURPOSE:To provide a suspension fuel having excellent fluidity suitable for the transport in a pipeline or for combustion, by adding a specific amount of an acid (salt) composed of a polymer having a specific carboxylic acid as a constituent monomer unit to a mixture of coal powder and an alcohol. CONSTITUTION:The objective suspension fuel is produced by mixing a mixture of coal powder and an alcohol such as methanol, with an acid composed of the polymer having a number-average molecular weight of 1,000-30,000 and containing the carboxylic acid of formula (R1 and R2 are H or 1-6C alkyl; R3 is H or 1-3C alkyl) as >=50(wt)% of the constituent monomer units, and/or the salt of said acid. The amount of the acid, etc. is 0.005-3% of the fuel. EFFECT:Excellent deashing property.
