PURPOSE:To produce the titled compound useful as a raw material of agricultural chemicals, isocyanate, and polyurethane, in high yield and catalytic efficiency, by reacting an aromatic nitro compound with carbon monoxide and a hydroxyl-containing organic compound in the presence of a specific catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound can be produced by reacting an aromatic nitro compound with carbon monoxide and an organic compound having at least one hydroxyl group (e.g. methanol, phenol, etc.) in the presence of a catalyst system composed of a palladium-based main catalyst, a Lewis acid, a cocatalyst composed of a nitrogen-containing heteroaromatic compound, and an oxygen-containing organic sulfur compound (e.g. sulfoxide, sulfone, etc.) at 100- 250 deg.C under a CO-partial pressure of 10-1,000kg/cm<2>, preferably at 140-190 deg.C and 30-300kg/cm<2>. The amount of the oxygen-containing organic sulfur compound added to the catalyst system is preferably 0.01-5mol per 1mol of the palladium-based main catalyst. |
