1-(Alkyl-hydroxy-phenyl)-2 -alkylamino-1-propanols of formula (I) and their acid-addn. salts are new. In (I), R1 = 1-4C alkyl; R2 = (a) phenyl opt. substd. by halogen, OH, 1-6C alkyl or 1-6C alkoxy, or (b) 5-6C cycloalkyl opt. substd. by 1-6C alkyl or alkoxy; A = 3-4C alkylene. Pref. R1 = Me in the 3- or 4-posn. (the OH gp. being in the 4 or 3 posn.); R2 = phenyl, 4-chlorophenyl or 4-fluorophenyl; A = (CH2)3.
