PURPOSE:To enable a printing work invariably in a dry state without ink fouling to an object to be printed in a printer or a user by forming a groove for ink recovery on a carriage while a printing unit is so arranged to project a porous body housed in an ink tank therebelow corresponding to the groove. CONSTITUTION:A central groove 11C for ink recovery formed on the carriage 10 is formed right below a detachable printing unit 20 and right and left grooves 11A and 11B are made to communicate with the central groove 11C while the central groove 11C is concentrated below a nozzle highly susceptible to leakage of ink. In addition, a leg section 25 to be fitted into the groove 11 for ink recovery of the carriage 10 during the mounting thereof projects from the bottom of a discharge section 22 of the printing unit 20 while containing an ink absorption holding member 31 made of porous material and the other end thereof is arranged in an ink tank section (ink liquid reservoir) 21. This can make the perimeter of the printing unit free from ink fouling without use of any specially complicated means. |
