The invention relates to a process and a system for influencing the water discharge from a stormwater tank (10) of a sewerage system, in the case of which the nominal discharge, taking place through the discharge pipe, from this stormwater tank is regulated. As discharge pipe, a siphon-free discharge pipe (13) is used in conjunction with a throughflow measurement unit (21) which operates in dependence on speed. The regulator for regulating the nominal discharge is normally switched off and a throttle member (14), which is used for throttling the discharge and belongs to the discharge pipe (13), is held in predetermined open position. If, in contrast, the nominal discharge has to be regulated owing to the danger of it being exceeded, a region (19), used for measuring the throughflow and belonging to the discharge pipe (13), is filled completely and the nominal discharge is regulated. This regulation is then ended again if the water level falls below a predetermined water level at which the throughflow measurement region of the discharge pipe is still completely full. <IMAGE>
