PURPOSE:To inform a fault to a sender without useless data retransmission by allowing a data transmitter to detect and store the signal interruption from a data processing unit and to respond to a fault informing frame when a station receives the data. CONSTITUTION:Data processing units 31-34 are connected to a common transmission line 10 via data transmitters 21-24 respectively. When the unit 31 transmits a frame including the address and data of a destination and a sender to the unit 33, the frame is received by a reception circuit 101 of the transmitter 23 and when the circuit 101 detects the address addressed to the unit 33, a control signal (a) is transmitted to a control circuit 107. The circuit 107 generates a control signal (b) and stores the reception frame to a buffer 105. When a signal interruption detecting circuit 109 detects the interruption of a packet data from the unit 33, an FF 101 is set. When the circuit 107 receives a storage end signal C of the buffer 105, the FF110 is checked, and when the FF 110 is set, a fault informing frame is generated in a transmission register 108 and it is transmitted to the sender via a transmission circuit 102.
