PURPOSE:To provide a cosmetic applicable safely and continuslly for a long period, by using a germanium-containing substance having low toxicity to human body and having biophylactic activity and homeostasis-promoting activity, etc. CONSTITUTION:Elemental germanium or a germanium derivative [e.g. oxide, hydroxide, halide or organic compound (e.g. alkylate, arylate, etc.), preferably a water-soluble compound] is used as a component of a cosmetic to be applied to the skin, e.g. face lotion, cream, milky lotion, soap, face powder, foundation, lipstick, rouge, eye makeup, pack, etc. When the cosmetic prepared thereby is applied to the skin, hair or oral cavity, it exhibits excellent effect to activate the tissue, keep its freshness, and supply the tissue with nutrients. |
