PURPOSE:The reaction between acetonitrile and methanol is carried out in the presence of catalyst consisting of Fe and/or Cr, Mg and oxygen to enable high- selectivity production of the titled compound useful in petrichemical industry such as production of acrylic fibers. CONSTITUTION:The gas-phase reaction between acetonitile and methanol is effected in the presence of a catalyst which is composed of Fe and/or Cr, Mg and oxygen to produce the objective compound. The formulation of the catalyst is represented by the formula MaMgbOc (M is Fe, Cr; a, b and c are 0.5-20, 48- 60 and 32-39.5 in wt% where a+b+c is 100). EFFECT:An industrially valuable compound is obtained from inexpensive starting materials, acetonitrile and methanol in high yield. In addition to the objective compound, a compound with carbon atoms 1 more than the starting compound, namely propionitrile, can be produced in combination. |
