The intermediate ceiling element consists of a continuous strip of flexible material, horizontally stretched so as to cover the top structure. The strip (1) incorporates cuts (2), bounding parts (31) normally lying in its plane. They are movable out of this plane, esp. under the influence of rising currents of air, in the event of fire. The X parts concerned pref. form flaps which can bend out from the flat position. The cuts can be interrupted, and separated by very narrow sections. They can be slits with abutting edges.
