摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce the number of bearings and provide a compact pneumatic bearing device with improved running accuracy for forming a pneumatic bearing device by supporting two different directional forces with a single bearing in a bearing guide surface and an air pocket having a simple construction. CONSTITUTION:A pneumatic bearing device is constituted from a bearing guide 1 formed with two bearing guide surfaces 11a, 11b orthogonal to each other in the different planer directions and a bearing pad 2 supported floatingly above said guide 1. When pressurized air is supplied to the bearing device, the bearing pad 2 floats from two bearing guide surfaces 11a, 11b by raised pressure in an air pocket 23 to form and hold a certain fine gap h between the guide surfaces 11a, 11b so that the pressure in the air pocket 23 is uniformly distributed throughout the whole width of the guide surfaces 11a, 11b. Thus, the quantity of bearings used can be halved, the device can be made compact and forces in a plurality of directions can be supported to improve the running accuracy.
