The invention relates to an apparatus for washing and rinsing bottles, which contains, one after the other, a loading station, conveying elements for the bottles, to which dispensing elements are assigned, and an unloading station. Provision has been made for a multiplicity of wheels or stars to be provided as conveying elements and to be kinematically connected to one another in such a way that they rotate at the same circumferential speed, and for reception devices which are in each case open in a radial direction to be provided on the circumferences of the wheels, into which reception devices are inserted in each case the necks of the bottles to be cleaned which are aligned with their bottoms pointing outwards and are held in the reception devices by means of stationary outer edge guides. Furthermore, provision is made for the wheels which succeed one another in each case to be in tangential contact with one another at one point of their circumferences, to which point are assigned transfer elements for transferring the bottles in each case from a reception device of a wheel to a reception device of the wheel arranged downstream which is in tangential contact with the former wheel, and for spraying nozzles which serve as dispensing elements for delivering water and water feeding elements which serve to supply water to the spraying nozzles when the reception device in question is occupied by a bottle to be assigned in each case to the reception devices for the bottles.
