PURPOSE:To produce the titled foam easy in control of reaction, low in corrosiveness to metals, good in adhesion to a face material, low in curing shrinkage, and low in residual water content, by using a specified aqueous phenolsufonic acid solution as a curing agent. CONSTITUTION:In producing a phenolic resin foam from a resol phenolic resin, a blowing agent, a foam stabilizer, a curing agent, etc., an aqueous phenolsulfonic acid solution is used as said curing agent. Said aqueous solution should have a phenolsulfonic acid concentration >=67wt% and a free sulfuric acid content <=4wt%. By using this curing agent, it is possible to obtain a phenolic resin foam easy in control of reaction, low in corrosiveness to metals, etc., good in adhesion to a face material, low in curing shrinkage and low in residual water content of a foam.
