PURPOSE:An antiulcerative agent that contains niphedipine as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:The compound of the formula: 1,4-dihydro-2,6-dimethyl-4-(2-nitrophenyl)-3,5-pyridinecarboxylic acid dimethyl ester, is used to give an antiulcerative agent. The dose is 10-100mg/day/adult and it is orally administered in the form of tablets, granules or capsules. Niphedipine has been widely used as a hypotensor and said to be a calcium antagonist. The compound has stronger antacid effect than cimetidine which has been conventionally used as a drug for digestive ulcers.
