PURPOSE:To form a protecting film of a compound having improved corrosion resistance and heat resistance on iron, copper, etc. independently of shape by an electroless method without causing pollution, by blending a solution of silicic acid or silicate with a potassium compound solution, adjusting the solution to a specific pH to give a treatment solution, treating the surface of a metal with the treatment solution. CONSTITUTION:(A) A solution of silicic acid or a silicate is blended with (B) a potassium solution, and adjusted to >=10pH, to give a treatment solution. The surface of an iron material after plating of zinc solution is treated with the treatment solution. Then, it is subjected to heat drying process in case of necessity.
