PURPOSE:To provide an amphoteric ion exchange membrane consisting of a block copolymer having a specific structure, formed in the form of a tube without using a supporting membrane, and having excellent salt transmission and mechanical strength. CONSTITUTION:The objective ion exchange membrane is made of a block copolymer composed of a polymer polyA<-> having cation exchange group, a polymer polyB<+> having anion exchange group and a polymer polyC free from ion exchange group. One or both of the polymer having cation exchange group and the polymer having anion exchange group are preferably crosslinked. The polymer free from ion exchange group may be crosslinked. A solution containing polyA, polyB and polyC (polymers before the introduction of ion exchange group) is applied to the outer surface of a rod-like or tubular substrate, the substrate is removed after drying the solution, and finally, cation exchange group and anion exchange group are introduced and the polyC is crosslinked. |
