PURPOSE:To print off a photographed film by the method of trimming on enlargement basis and to obtain a print as if a lens having a longer focus than a lens in use were used. CONSTITUTION:A mark 12 is detected when trimming information is detected, and a trimming printing state is entered when a corresponding frame 11 is guided to a printing position. When print magnification is varied, a lens deck 51 and a paper deck 73 are moved so that automatic focusing is performed in the relation 1/a+1/b=1/f, where (a) is the distance from a negative film 30 to a lens 50 and (b) is the distance from the lens 50 to photographic paper 70. Then, print magnification (m) satisfies m1=b1/a1 and m2=b2/a2 and numbers of print magnification values are obtained. Then, the trimming information is recorded on the negative film and the quantity of exposure is determined, and then preprocessing such as color adjustment is carried out. The film is set on an automatic photographic printer after the preprocessing is completed and printing operation is performed automatically with larger print magnification than other frames according to the trimming information.
