PURPOSE:To produce an internal-combustion engine having excellent volume efficiency while maintaining the insulating effect by covering the wall face of combustion chamber with carbon cloth having surface applied with heat-resistant metal film layer. CONSTITUTION:An insulating member where a heat-resistant metal layer 3 is applied onto a carbon cloth 2 is applied onto the top face of member for forming the wall face of combustion chamber of internal-combustion engine or a piston 1. Preferably, the thickness of the carbon cloth 2 is shorter than 2mm. while nickel or titanium film having the thickness shorter than 0.1mm., for example, is employed as the heat-resistant metal layer 3. Consequently, the insulation performance is improved because of the heat-resistant metal layer 3 applied onto the carbon cloth 2 where the thermal capacity can be reduced because of low heat transmission factor of the carbon cloth 2 while since holding of high temperature gas in the carbon cloth 2 is prevented, the volume efficiency can be improved. |
