A control circuit for a stepping motor having a stepping-pulse transmitter and a rotor position transmitter is designed in such a manner that the pulses from the position transmitter are used as stepping pulses for the motor drive, a number of pulse transmitters corresponding to the number of phases of the stepping motor being provided, which pulse transmitters are in each case arranged at a distance from one another corresponding to the stepping width or a multiple thereof and can be rotated or pivoted about the motor shaft which is provided with a control cam, it being possible to vary the rotation speed and the rotation direction by rotating or pivoting this pulse-transmitter arrangement.
