A safety guard for use on a power press 12, or other powered machine having a trapping area 16, wherein the guard is in the form of a part-cylindrical light curtain 15 with its axis arranged horizontally in front of the trapping area 16. The guard may also include a horizontal light curtain (18) (Fig. 3 not shown) extending from the bottom of the first light curtain 15 to the machine at a level below that of the trapping area 16. Preferably, a tray or shelf 17 for workpieces is located below the horizontal light-curtain (18) at a position where there is no straight- line path for the operators hands from the tray or shelf 17 to the trapping area 16. <IMAGE> |
