Power generator apparatus (25) includes a drive source in the form of a drive belt (18) made of a shape memory alloy, which is repeatedly deformed and restored due to the difference in temperature between low temperature fresh water from a fresh water layer (3) and a high temperature and high concentration solution from a regenerative layer (2) in a solar pond (5). Such repeated deformation and restoration causes a power generator (21) to be driven by rotation of pulleys (16, 17) carrying the belt (18) to produce electric power.
