PURPOSE:To rapidly and simply optimize a printing state, by providing an exclusive controller for controlling the emission of a head unit and performing preparatory emission processing at the start time of a printer by said controller. CONSTITUTION:At the beginning of printing, a liquid jet recording head unit HU is subjected to preheating treatment and preparatory emission processing to improve an ink emitting state. After preheating was stopped, said recording head unit HU is allowed to stand by for a predetermined time to average the temp. distribution in the locally heated recording head HU and, subsequently, preparatory emission processing is performed. An emission condition is set to a head unit controller 10 and printing output to all dots is set to '1'. Printing output is applied to the recording unit HU to perform emission and this operation is repeated prescribed times. After the completion of this operation, the recording head HU is transferred to a stand-by state. When a printing signal is supplied from a host computer in said stand-by state, printing data is latched by PPI1 and transmitted to RAM3 being a line buffer. Then, the signal from a temp. detection element TS is detected by a temp. comparing circuit 15 to judge whether a low temp. side is a definite temp. or more. |
