PURPOSE:To decrease the access time by setting in advance an optimum offset value at each sector to an offset value table so as to decrease number of retrials to a sector with succeeded access. CONSTITUTION:The first sector in a disc 1 is accessed at the initializing of a magnetic disc device, and when the access is successful, an offset value ''0'' is set to an offset value table 10, and when unsuccessful, a prescribed retrial is repeated. Then a + offset operation is performed, and when the access is successful, a + offset value is set to the table and when unsuccessful, a prescribed retrial is repeated. Then - offset operation is performed similarly, and when successful, a - offset value is set to the table 10. In the normal disc access after the end of initializing, an offset value to an access object sector is extracted from the offset value table 10 and the offset operation by the offset value is designated so as to attain access. |
