PURPOSE:To shorten the time for the preliminary oxidation process, and to obtain a high-strength carbon fiber bundle which can be calcined at a high temperature without causing bonding and fusion, by attaching or impregnating an aqueous dispersion of a specific polysiloxane to an acrylic fiber. CONSTITUTION:An acrylic fiber is treated with a sizing agent obtained by dispersing (A) the polysiloxane of formula I (R1, R2 and R4 are H, alkyl or aryl; R3 and R5 are H or group of formula II; X is alkylene or arylene; Y is group of formula III, etc.; m and n are positive number to give a polysiloxane having a molecular weight of <=100,000; m+n>=10) with (B) an emulsifier of formula IV(R11 and R12 are H or branched alkyl; R13 is H or CH3; q is integer of <=20) in an aqueous solvent, to obtain an acrylic fiber precursor attached with 0.01- 10wt% component A. The product is infusibilized and carbonized to obtain the objective carbon fiber. |
