PURPOSE:To prevent useless continuation of defrosting operation, in which defrosting is not promoted, after the reduction of delivery temperature of refrigerant due to the reduction of temperature of a compressor by controlling the termination of defrosting operation by the temperature of the compressor. CONSTITUTION:Most of high-temperature discharging refrigerant of the compressor 1 is sent into an outdoor heat exchanger 3 through a bypass circuit 8. On the other hand, very small percentage of the discharging refrigerant is sent into an indoor heat exchanger 5. Quick defrosting is effected by the heat of the high-temperature discharging refrigerant in the outdoor heat exchanger 3 and low-temperature refrigerant is returned from the outdoor heat exchanger 3 to the compressor 1 while the refrigerant is changed into the high-temperature discharging gas again by the heat of the main body of compressor 1 and an input electric power of the compressor 1 and is discharged, thus, a cycle as described above is repeated. The temperature of the main body of compressor 1 is reduced gradually by this cycle. Then, when the detecting temperature of a compressor temperature sensor 18 has become lower than the set value for terminating defrosting, an outdoor control circuit 12 decides it that the defrosting operation is to be terminated and the compressor 1 is stopped.
