PURPOSE:To obtain a compact engine by arranging the output shaft of a secondary transmission apparatus along the longitudinal direction of the engine at the near center of the bottom part of a crankcase, thus reducing the width of the crankcase. CONSTITUTION:The output shaft 31 of a secondary transmission apparatus is arranged in the center part of the crankcase 30 of an engine 7. On a fitting surface 30a positioned at the bottom part of the case 30, bearings are positioned in the front and rear parts of the case 30 and support the output shaft 31. A pair of bevel gears 35 and 36 are fitted at each one edge of the output shaft 31 and a drive shaft 21 through splines 21a and 31a, respectively, and a bevel gear transmission mechanism 37 is constituted. Therefore, the driving force transmitted to a countershaft 21 is transmitted to the output shaft 31 of the secondary transmission apparatus through the transmission mechanism 37, and a driving force can be taken-out through the output shaft 31. |
