A vehicle 1 according to the invention is a vehicle carrying plant 2, for example an orientable crane which is mounted on a pivoting turret 3. The chassis 4 of the vehicle comprises two longitudinal members. The chassis comprises, at the front and at the rear, a pair of lateral telescopic arms, each carrying a sole plate for bearing on the ground. Each arm is articulated to the longitudinal member situated on the side opposite the bearing point and is manoeuvred by a jack 29. Each longitudinal member comprises, moreover, an intermediate bearing point 32g which is situated in front of the axis z z1 of the turret. One application is the construction of vehicles which meet the needs of the highway code and which can carry and handle significant loads with good stability. <IMAGE>
