PURPOSE:To obtain a head which decreases the wear to a recording medium to decrease the wear of the head itself and to protect the recording medium by forming the part of the vertical magnetic recording head which is in contact with the surface of the recording medium of porous carbon impregnated with a lubricating agent. CONSTITUTION:Substrates 9a, 9b for sandwiching a main magnetic pole 1 of a vertical head 2 of a magnetic head to be used for a vertical magnetic recording medium 5 is formed of porous carbon of <=20% open porosity impregnated with a fluorine surface active agent which is liquid or solid at an ordinary temp. or impregnated with a mixture composed of such liquid and solid surface active agents. The impregnation of these surface active agents only in the part where the head 2 contacts with the medium 5 is also satisfactory. Even if carbon powder is produced by the wear of the head, substantial lubricating power is provided by the lubricating effect of the carbon powder and fluorine surface active agent by which the wear of the head and the damage of the recording medium are prevented. |
