PURPOSE:To obtain the titled molded article having improved durability and thermal shock resistance without penetration of fired glaze layers nor cracks of substrate part, by glazing the surface of a molded body of a body consisting of a specific fine main material and a fine powdery foaming agent, and firing the glazed molded body. CONSTITUTION:The titled molded article obtained by glazing a suitable place of the surface of a molded body prepared by molding a body obtained by mixing (A) 100 pts.wt. fine main material prepared by pulverizing and mixing volcanic glass mineral, e.g. pumice or silas, and having a particle size in which 100% particles pass through an 80-mesh screen and 95% particles pass through a 325-mesh screen with (B) 0.05- 1.0pts.wt. fine powdery foaming agent, e.g. carbon, having a foaming gas generation temperature above the softening starting temperature and below the softening and melting temperature of the component (A) and (C) is necessary 0.1-10pts.wt. thickening agent, e.g. polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), with (D) a glaze consisting of a volcanic glass mineral in the slurry state as a main raw material by spray coating, etc., and firing the glazed molded body at the foaming gas generation temperature (1,000-1,300 deg.C) of the above-mentioned component (B) to form a fired glaze layer on the sutable place of the surface of the foamed glass substrate having 0.25-1.3 bulk specific gravity.
