PURPOSE:To secure the separation more assuredly between a picture signal and a digital sound signal by applying an azimuth system to a guard band of a picture track to record the digital sound signal. CONSTITUTION:Picture tracks TA and TB are formed by a picture head, and an area enclosed by both tracks, i.e., a guard band GB is used as a sound track. Both the sound recording and reproducing heads 28 and 30 have head gaps in the direction sloping by an angle theta to the head gap of the picture head. While two tracking signal detecting heads 32A and 32B have the head gaps in the same direction as the picture head. Thus the azimuth angle theta is secured for both heads 28 and 30 in order to avoid a case where the digital sound signal within the band GB is reproduced by the picture head owing to a tracking error and affects the reproduced picture signal. |
