PURPOSE:To resolve photographic operation of over-exposure and under-exposure within a luminance range under a natural light by comparing and operating a luminance at the time, when an object is placed within a prescribed photometric range, and a luminance within a photometric range for actual photographing to control the exposure operation. CONSTITUTION:At the focusing time before exposure start, the photometric output of a photometric means 1 is stored in a photometric information setting means 2 by the half depressing operation of a shutter button. Next, when a desired photographic picture constitution to be photographed is set and the shutter button is depressed fully, a luminance near the center of the photographic picture is stored in a photometric information setting means 3, and a comparing and operating means 4 is operated to compare photometric information of means 2 and 3 with each other. An exposure setting means 5 outputs photometric information used in succeeding exposure operations on a basis of correction information, which is obtained by the correcting operation which approximates photometric information of the means 3 to that of the means 2, if the difference as the comparison result is larger than a prescribed value or on a basis of photometric information of the means 3 if said difference is smaller than the prescribed value.
