PURPOSE:To continuously and efficiently filter particles in a liquid for a long time, by a method wherein water to be treated is passed from the outer periphery of a filter cylinder toward the inner periphery thereof to perform filtering and a filter material is wound up, when pressure rises a predetermined value by the accumulation of cut trashes, so as to leave a rear mounted filter layer. CONSTITUTION:Filter paper 1 is wound into a roll form in a multi-layered state so as to form a hollow barrel part 5a at the center to form a filter cylinder 5 and water to be treated is passed from the outer peripheral surface of said filter cylinder 5 toward the hollow barrel part 5a as shown by the arrow in the drawing to perform filtering while, at the same time, a wind-up shaft 6 having one end of filter paper 1 fixed thereto is provided to the outside of the filter cylinder 5. When cut trashes 4 are accumulated on the outer peripheral surface of the filter cylinder 5 and water passing pressure increases, the cut trash accumulated part is wound up by the wind-up shaft 6 so as to leave a rear mounted filter layer F at the trailing part of said filter paper 1.
