PURPOSE:To improve the sound absorbing effect of a muffler itself and absorb vibration and lower the surface temperature of an outer box and permit the integrated formation with other parts by constituting the outer box of the muffler from the shaped sound-absorbing material having the superior sound absorbing and heat insulating performance. CONSTITUTION:The case 10 of an air cleaner 8 and the outer box 11 of a sound arrester 9 are formed by joining the right and left divided bodies made of the shaped sound-absorbing material by using heat-resisting adhesive, and each inside part of the case 10 and the outer box 11 consists of a porous layer 10a, 11a having the superior sound absorbing and heat insulating performance in the inside part and a hard layer 10b, 11b having the superior sound shielding performance and rigidity in the outside part. An outside-air suction duct 15 is held in penetration onto one wall-part of the case 10 of the air cleaner 8, and an introducing duct 16 is held in penetration onto the other wall-part. While, a punching plate 19 is installed onto the inside surface of the outer box 11 of the sound arrester 9, and the space formed in the outer box 11 is divided into the first and the second expansion chambers 22 and 23 by a separator 21 equipped with a communication pipe 20. |
