PURPOSE:To provide the titled medium with especially excellent electromagnetic transducing characteristic and traveling durability by specifying the light transmissivity and the mean roughness of the back layer. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer is provided on one surface of a nonmagnetic supporting body, and a back layer is provided on the opposite surface to obtain the magnetic recording medium. The transmissivity of the magnetic layer to the light having 9,000Angstrom wavelength is regulated to >=2% and that of the back layer to 1-10%, and the integrated transmissivity of the magnetic tape is regulated to <=1%. The mean roughness Ra of the back layer at the center line is adjusted to <=0.05mum (however, 0.08mm. cutoff). The light transmissivity of the magnetic layer and the back layer can be controlled by adding the colored powder of carbon black, titanium oxide, TiC, etc. <=10pts.wt., preferably <=7pts.wt., said colored powder is added to 100pts.wt. magnetic body in the magnetic layer. |
