PURPOSE:To narrow accurately the interval between a recording and reproducing part of a head and a recording medium by using a transparent slider superior in wear resistance with respect to a pad for the single face magnetic head of a flexible magnetic recording device. CONSTITUTION:A spherical single face head 1 and a transparent slider 2 consisting of materials superior in wear resistance such as sapphire, glass, or the like are provided, and the recording medium is interposed between these head 1 and slider 2. A transparent film 3 which has a thickness and a rigidity approximately equal to those of the recording medium used actually for recording and reproducing and consists of, for example, a polyester film or the like is provided between the head 1 and the transparent slider 2. The film 3 is irradiated from above the transparent slider 2 by a light source 4 such as a lamp or the like. Thus, interference fringes 6 of light between the recording medium (film 3) and the single face head 1 are observed in conditions approximately equal to those in the actual use state of the device. Since the mode of these interference fringes 6 is varied in accordance with the vertical position of the slider 2, the interval between a recording and reproducing part 10 of the head and the recording medium is narrowed sufficiently if these interference fringes are used to adjust the position of the slider 2. |
