PURPOSE:The titled composition, containing a specific dibenzylurea based compound and 4-(4-chloro-2-methyl-phenoxy)butyric acid, and capable of increasing herbicidal effect by remarkable synergistic action, and prolonging the duration of efficary. CONSTITUTION:A composition containing a compound expressed by the formula (X is H or halogen; R<1> and R<2> are methyl or ethyl), e.g. 1-(2-fluorobenzyl)-3-(alpha, alpha-dimethylbenzyl)urea, having high effect on gramineous and cyperaceous weeds but low effect on broad-leaved weeds, and reducing the effect thereof with advance in growth of weeds and 4-(4-chloro-2-methyl-phenoxy)butyric acid at 1: 0.2-1 weight ratio between the former and the latter. The above-mentioned herbicide is capable of suppressing almost completely the development of weeds over the whole growth period of paddy rice only by one treatment.
