The invention relates to foldable seats of the "deckchair" type, the articulation principle of which makes it possible to avoid any untimely collapse. It comprises an internal part 2 articulated on an external part 1, both of which are held in position by a crossbeam 4 which is integral with two struts 3 articulated on the part 1 within notches 8, whose profile limits at 9 the clearance of the struts 3 in order to limit the inclination of the part 1. The part 1 bears articulation pivots 6 which can slide within the slideways 5 provided in the part 2, which makes it possible to collapse the seat by tilting the part 1 forward and sliding it in the reverse direction along the part 2.
