PURPOSE:To obtain the carriage return apparatus of a printer easy to operate, by directly connecting a multi-contact switch for controlling a stepping motor to a ring rotated by the manipulation of a platen knob. CONSTITUTION:When a platen knob 6 is pressed, the back side 6' of the knob 6 is contacted with the end surface 10' of a ring 10. When the platen knob 6 is rotated at a definite angle in this state, a leaf spring 12 is bent and one of leaf spring contacts 13 is pressed and closed while the signal thereof is sent to a carriage return control circuit to supply carriage return pulses to a stepping motor 1 at large intervals. By this mechanism, a plate 15 rotates at every minute amount pitch at a relatively low speed to perform minute adjustement. When the platen knob 6 is further rotated, the leaf spring 12 closes two leaf spring contacts 13 and the plate 5 rotates at a carriage return speed. By the magnitude of a rotary amount by the pressing of the platen knob 6, the platen 5 is roughly rotated at a high speed and, thereafter, minute adjustment at a minute pitch can be performed. |
