A product with immunological and/or endocrinological activity and with a standardisable product action is proposed and contains, in a physiological medium, at least one histone, especially at least one histone H2 or an effectively active region of this histone. Thus, the use of histones and/or histone sections for the preparation of a product of this type is also proposed. The histones can be obtained from biological starting materials, e.g. from thymus. Since H2a and H2b histones from cattle and from humans are identical, the histones for the product according to the invention can also be obtained for use in human medicine. Products according to the invention may also contain only an evolutionarily variable section of at least one histone, especially of an H2a or H2b histone. Such sections can be prepared relatively easily by synthetic and/or genetic engineering processes. The invention is particularly based on the finding that the effectively active region of a histone with immunological or endocrinological activity is located within the evolutionarily variable histone section. The product according to the invention can be used for immunotherapy.
