PURPOSE:To improve the compatibility with slurry and prevent corrosion by improving the holding force for grinding minute powder by utilizing the synergetic action between the characteristics of polyvinylacetal porous material and the characteristics of wool. CONSTITUTION:The acetal portion of polyvinylacetal (PVAt) porous material is made 60-85mol%. The wool cut-fibers having the length of 1-15mm. are mixed uniformly in 20-100wt% into the PVAt porous material, and a buffing material consisting of PVAt porous material which is highly compatible with slurry and is hardly corroded, as basic material, is obtained. In order to improve the water resistance of the buffing material and improve the dimension stability, a kind among phenol resin, melamine resin, epoxy resin and urethane resin is applied into the PVAt porous material, and thermal treatment is applied.
