PURPOSE:To contrive to enhance measuring accuracy, by a method wherein a weighing function generator, a holding integrator, a sum-of-products operator and a max. value calculator are successively started with respect to respective N-pieces of wasteful times having a definite internal value by a controller to perform required operation and the wasteful time imparting a max. value among the wasteful times is calculated. CONSTITUTION:The digital signal 2 having a frequency wide band width among two digital signals which are generated from one signal generator and have different frequency band widths and the weighing function from a weighing function generator 4 for making the wasteful time of imparted standard weighing function variable are integrated by a folding integrator 6 to output a digital signal with indicated sampling frequency and operation is performed by a sum- of-products operator 8 taking the correlation of said output signal and a digital signal 3 having a narrow band width. Further, the max. value among sum-of- products operation outputs relating to plural sets of wasteful times is outputted to a max. value calculator 10 and a wasteful time is calculated from this output and set as calculated positional shift.
