<p>PURPOSE:To improve ageing resistance by forming an orientation control film made of a compsn. of an org. In compd. and an org. Zr compd. on a plastic base provided with a transparent electrode. CONSTITUTION:An orientation control film 3 composed essentially of an org. In compd., such as In(OC3H7)3, and an org. Zr compd., such as Zr(CH3COCHCOCH3)4, is formed on a plastic base 1, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) base, provided with a transparent electrode 2. Such In and Zr org. compds. are dissolved in a solvent, the base 1 is coated with its soln., and it is heat dried at a temp. of about 120 deg.C, sufficiently lower than the heat deformation temp. of the PET base 1 to form a thin film 3. These two films 30 of the bases 1 are rubbed and superposed, with the films 3 facing each other and the rubbing directions crossing at right angles, and the gap is filled with liquid crystals to form a panel. The panel of such a structure has superior ageing resistance, and also good producibility.</p> |
