A method for producing continuously cast steel strands, which have outer surfaces and which are greater than 200mm x 200mm in cross- section, uses a continuous casting process in which molten steel is fed into a casting mold having an inner wall surface through a submerged nozzle and is continuously drawn out downward from the casting mold. The method occurs in a magnetic field of 195 x e-0.8f- 1790 x e-0.2f (f = frequency) with a magnetic flux density at the inner wall surface of the cast steel strands a 1.8 x 106/(D-100)2 (D=solidified thickness of strands) magnetic flux density at the intermediate solidified zone, and a 895 x e-0.2f-2137 x e-0.2f magnetic-flux density at the last solidified zone, with electro- agitation of the molten steel at the least two of the zones.
