PURPOSE:To obtain ferromagnetic iron oxide having superior spontaneous magnetization by mixing hematite ground to powder of a specified particle size with a specified amount of metallic iron powder, ferromagnetic oxide powder or ferromagnetic ferrite powder. CONSTITUTION:Hematite is heated to about 500-800 deg.C and put in water or liquefied gas so as to facilitate grinding, and it is ground to powder of 2-50mum average particle size. This hematite powder is mixed with 1-10wt% at least one kind of powder selected among metallic iron powder, ferromagnetic oxide powder and ferromagnetic ferrite powder to obtain ferromagnetic iron oxide having >=0.65emu/g spontaneous magnetization. |
